Dimitri Yellachich is Head of Department at Fremantle Hospital Eye Clinic and specialises in vitreoretinal medical and surgical conditions. He is a local graduate who undertook subspecialty training and research in biomedical engineering at Stanford University in the USA and further vitreoretinal training in the United Kingdom. His research at Stanford was in electronic retinal prosthesis and retinal pigment epithelial cell transplantation, looking for novel cures for macular degeneration.
Dimitri is also currently Associate Professor and discipline leader of ophthalmology at Notre Dame University and the Western Australian representative on the medical committee of the Macular Degeneration Foundation. |
